A seafood restaurant in Richmond has had part of its application for new signs refused.

Scott's on Whittaker Avenue submitted proposals to install new signs and a flag outside its restaurant.

In its decision, the Council explained: "The proposed flag signage, by reason of its siting, scale, design and relationship with other signage, would appear over-dominant, cluttered and visually intrusive in the street scene, harming visual amenity."

The Council's report added that because of the number of new signs, one projecting sign, three menu boards and nine branded awnings, the addition of a flag would be "cumulatively harmful".

However, on the side of its building, a written sign with the restaurant's name has been granted.
