A Richmond resident and charity trustee has raised more than £2,000 for Epilepsy Action after taking part in the Hampton Court Palace 10k.

Sally Taylor, who sits on the charity's Board of Trustees, joined fellow trustees across the UK in taking on personal challenges to celebrate Epilepsy Action's 75th anniversary, helping raise a combined total of £10,000.

The Richmond resident has a close family connection to epilepsy and has seen first-hand the impact the condition can have.

"One of our family members has epilepsy, so I've seen the impact it can have," said Sally.

"Taking part in this run felt like a way to turn that personal connection into something positive — raising awareness and funds to help others affected by epilepsy."

She added: "Epilepsy Action means so much to me and my family. The charity provides support, information and understanding for people living with epilepsy and their loved ones.

"Being a trustee has given me a deeper appreciation of just how vital that work is, and I'm proud to play even a small part in continuing it."

Founded in 1950 as the British Epilepsy Association, the charity has spent 75 years supporting people with epilepsy, campaigning for better care, and improving public understanding of the condition.

Rebekah Smith, Chief Executive of Epilepsy Action, praised the efforts of trustees like Sally.

She commented: "We're amazed by all the incredible challenges our trustees have taken on and couldn't be prouder of their determination to fundraise and mark Epilepsy Action's 75th birthday.

"They are an integral part of our work and a driving force behind our success."

Epilepsy affects around one in every 100 people in the UK, with about 80 people diagnosed every day.

Epilepsy Action offers free advice and support through its helpline on 0808 800 5050 and online at www.epilepsy.org.uk.
