Here are the biggest local planning stories from the past month.

Quality Fish Restaurant to be replaced by new doner spot

An application to install two new signs and skylights on the site of the former Quality Fish Restaurant and Takeaway has been put forward to Richmond Council.

The signs will be for a new Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant called EFES Doner PLUS on King Street, Richmond.

Quality Fish & Chip Restaurant had its last day of trading 12 May 2024. The restaurant closed after 93 years and its reported that the owner told customers that the premises had been sold.

Sainsbury's Richmond teams up with We Buy Any Car

An application has been submitted to Richmond Council from Sainsbury's to bring a new retail pod to its branch in Lower Richmond Road. 

The pod will be for the use of We Buy Any Car (WBAC) and will be constructed as a modular structure that will be built off-site and then placed inside Sainsbury's car park. 

Sainsbury's expect the WBAC pods to bring, on average, 12 cars a week to the supermarket.

Slug & Lettuce Richmond plans to get a 'fresh' look

Bar chain, The Slug & Lettuce (S&L), has submitted an application to replace the front signs of its Richmond site with a new "fresh" look.

Owners of S&L, Stonegate Group, put forward the application to Richmond Council last week (2 October) to replace the existing signage but keep the same "heritage feel".

Speaking to Nub News, S&L, said that works would take approximately two weeks and that the bar would reopen on Thursday, 7 November.
