The charity which runs Richmond's Royal Parks has told visitors that they shouldn't expect to find Santa's reindeer there.

Their reminder follows an incident last month when Royal Parks Police condemned people who brought carrots seemingly to feed the wild deer.

In a tongue-in-cheek message the Royal Parks said: "With Christmas fast approaching, just a reminder that you won't find Rudolph, Prancer or Vixen in Richmond Park or Bushy Park.

"Both parks provide ample natural food for the deer that is suited to their nutritional needs. Feeding the deer is unnecessary, dangerous and in breach of our park regulations.

"A police officer found these discarded carrots in Richmond Park after dispersing a crowd of people who had surrounded the deer. #Stay50mAway"
