Two car parks in Richmond Park hit capacity before noon on a weekday earlier this week as its popularity as a visitor destination continued.

Royal Parks said at 11.35am on Thursday, November 12: "Good morning everyone. Roehampton and Pembroke Lodge car parks are now full and traffic is flowing very slowly.

"If your plans involve a visit to us today we would suggest you consider less-busy times and that coming by car will be harder than usual.

"We will keep you updated here as the situation progresses, thank you for your understanding."

Both days last weekend the park attracted a huge number of visitors, resulting in gridlocked roads and deer being penned in by large crowds of people.

Today (Friday, November 13) Royal Parks asked people not to drive to the park this coming weekend and said people who live so far away that they need to drive should "consider visiting somewhere local".
