Richmond Gymnastics Association has been named a finalist in the 2026 British Gymnastics Community Club Awards, in the category for clubs with more than 250 members.

The awards, run by British Gymnastics, celebrate clubs across the country that make an outstanding contribution to their local communities. Winners are due to be announced on 9 February 2026.

Richmond Gymnastics Association, which is based in the borough and has hundreds of members, has long operated under the motto "To every child the opportunity" — a principle the club says continues to shape its culture and approach.

Director of Coaching Salme Naylor said the nomination was a reflection of the whole club community.

"We're honoured to be selected for the British Gymnastics Community Award 2026," she said.

"This award reflects the dedication and passion of our staff, coaches and volunteers. It is our shared commitment in creating an inclusive, supportive environment where children of all ages and abilities can thrive.

"Gymnastics builds confidence, strength and resilience and at Richmond Gymnastics we're proud to be a part of that."

The club is particularly well known for its inclusion programme, which provides tailored support for gymnasts with a wide range of additional needs.

Many of those taking part go on to compete in tumbling, floor and vault competitions, as well as regional and national acrobatic gymnastics events.

Beyond the club itself, Richmond Gymnastics Association also works closely with local SEN schools, delivering gymnastics sessions during the school day and offering early access to structured physical development. The club employs several coaches with disabilities, who play key roles across both its inclusion and recreational programmes.

More recently, Richmond Gymnastics has introduced the British Gymnastics Foundation's Love to Move programme, aimed at helping older adults stay active, mobile and socially engaged, further extending the club's reach within the community.

British Gymnastics said finalists were selected based on their commitment to inclusion, community impact and the positive environments they create for participants.

The final winners of the 2026 Community Club Awards will be announced next month.
