Boiling in Barnes, hot in Hampton and tropical in Twickenham.

Richmond Council leader Gareth Roberts showed he's a politician of many talents by giving the weekend weather forecast to camera.

In fact, Cllr Roberts was not so hot on the latest movements of the jet stream, but rather took the opportunity to warn against the dangers posed by the scorching temperatures which arrived on Friday.

In the video which you can watch above, he tells residents to consider wearing a high factor sun cream and carrying water when they're out and about.

He reminded people of the need to wear face masks on public transport and in shops "because in doing so we will save lives".

"We also need to be aware of the general picture around hot weather," Cllr Roberts said.

"So if you have elderly relatives, consider just checking on them to make sure they're ok.

"If you have grandchildren or children, please explain to them the dangers of jumping into the Thames from structures such as Teddington Lock.

"If you have pets, particularly dogs, make sure you don't leave them unaccompanied in hot cars.

"And if you're going out to enjoy the parks and open spaces, particularly in the evenings, please be mindful of the who live nearby and don't cause unnecessary noise or disturbance.

"It's going to be a beautiful weekend. It's something we can all enjoy, so let's do it safely together."
