Richmond music fans have the chance to see hometown star Richard Ashcroft live at the The O2 Arena, while supporting a local campaign for new church bells.

The former The Verve frontman has donated two tickets, worth £500, to his sold-out show on 28 March as part of a fundraising raffle organised by local bell ringers at St Mary Magdalene.

Tickets for the raffle cost £10 each, with the draw closing at 4pm on Saturday, 21 March.

Organisers say there is a limited number of raffle entries available, but within that cap supporters can buy as many tickets as they like.

Ashcroft, a long-time Richmond resident, has enjoyed a standout year after joining the Oasis reunion tour and is now embarking on his own headline tour alongside the release of his new solo album, Lovin' You.

While better known for arena rock than church towers, the singer's latest gesture has delighted local bell ringers, who are raising funds for a new set of bells.

They say they are thrilled to have another high-profile supporter behind their campaign.

Organisers hope the raffle will not only boost the appeal of the fundraising drive but also give one lucky winner a memorable night out at one of London's biggest venues.
