Rewind: When Prince Philip visited Richmond




Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, has died today aged 99 the Palace has announced.
Prince Philip made a number of official visits to Richmond borough during his lifetime.
On June 2, 1959 the Queen and Prince Philip visited Kew Gardens for its bi-centenary celebrations.
The couple attend Kew's bicentennial garden party and visited its reconstructed Palm House and its Orangerie.

Prince Philip also visited Twickenham to watch the Rugby World Cup final in 2015.
He attended the match with his grandsons Princes William and Harry, watching New Zealand's All Blacks beat Australia 34-17.
The official Palace statement on his death this morning read: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
"Further announcements will be made in due course.
"The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss."
In a televised speech today Boris Johnson said: "We mourn today with Her Majesty the Queen.
"We offer our condolences to her, and to her family, and we give thanks, as a Nation, and a Kingdom, for the extraordinary life and work of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh."
