Extra-strength lights to stimulate the growth of grass on the pitch at Twickenham Stadium turned the skies orange earlier this week.

It could be seen for miles around, as this remarkable photo by Krini Theodoraki shows.

The Rugby Football Union's head groundsman shared this photo of the lighting system which caused a "major light refraction".

Some people mistook it for smoke over the stadium and called the fire brigade.
