A colourful and offbeat art exhibition inspired by a cult musical book is now on show in Richmond and has been extended due to popular demand.

Books on the Rise is the latest venue to host The Legend of Kaptain Karnival Art Show, featuring surreal comic-style artwork by Jem "Stone" Panufnik, pioneer of Finger Lickin' Records.

The exhibition from the Twickenham artist draws on The Legend of Kaptain Karnival, a highly original audio-visual project blending music, graphics and storytelling, which has been touring the UK to widespread acclaim.

Visitors are invited to step into a psychedelic world through a collection of prints, paintings and sculptures, all centred around the mysterious figure of Kaptain Karnival, described variously as a deity, a philosopher or "a downright cheeky monkey".

Organisers say the response has been so strong that the exhibition has now been extended until New Year 2026, giving more people the chance to experience what they describe as a "thrilling and wonky" celebration of art and imagination.

The exhibition is free to enter and is open daily from 10am to 6pm, except Mondays.

Books and posters related to the project are also available to buy visiting the link here.
