Transport for London has applied for permission to give a makeover to two Richmond bus shelters.
Applications have been submitted for the structures on Sheen Road.
TFL has asked for permission from Richmond Council to replace the billboards at the bus stops.
"The application is submitted on behalf of our client Transport for London (TfL) with whom JCDecaux UK Limited is a chosen partner to develop their advertised shelter estate," plans stated.
They added: "This application is one of many across the capital and in your borough that will see the existing analogue, i.e. printed backlit images, change to LCD display screens.
"The physical and visual changes will be relatively minor with the updating of the technology, however the move to digitized displays represents a significant leap forward in modernizing the estate with a more sustainable display method."
TFL explained further: "The use of digital technology to show commercial messaging and real time passenger information is already part of the TfL's estate and the current set of applications is the next stage of modernization to extend the technology and reduce the need to manual change of printed images."
