Have you spotted this new postbox topper in Mortlake? The Tiger Who Came to Tea Post Box Cover comes from the Mortlake Community Association (MCA) Knitting Group.

MCA has created the new post box cover after being inspired by Judith Kerr's The Tiger Who Came to Tea.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Barnes Children's Literature Festival, the MCA Knitting Group was asked to create the new cover, selecting Barnes Bookshop as it location due to it being 'special' to Mrs Kerr.

This is the group's second project, with their last topper having been displayed outside Mortlake Train Station back in December 2023.

Following the Christmas topper, one resident said: "Thank you for giving me a big smile today. Your post box hat at the station was the best Christmas thing I've seen for years. X"

The MCA Knitting Group runs sessions on the first and third Wednesday of every month at the Mortlake Community Hub, 30 Mulins Path, SW14 8EZ, 12pm to 3pm.

The knitting group say all residents are welcome regardless of experience. The group provides materials and complimentary lunch.

MCA is a community programme aimed at 'improving' and 'enhancing' the lives of Mortlake residents. A small team of staff and volunteers provide groups and activities to suit a variety of interests within the local community.
