A moped rider was taken to hospital on Tuesday morning following a collision at a junction on the A316.

Police, ambulance and fire brigade vehicles raced to the incident, which happened close to the roundabout junction between London Road, which leads to the Ivybridge estate, and the A316.

Some residents have raised concerns about the safety of the roundabout with some arguing that, like others on the A316, it should be traffic light controlled.

The Metropolitan Police said: "'Police were called at 09:16hrs on Tuesday, 3 January to reports of a collision at London Road, Twickenham.

"Officers, London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London Fire Brigade attended. At the scene a van had been in collision with a moped.

"The rider of the moped was taken to hospital by LAS where his injuries were not life threatening.

"Cordons were lifted and traffic was running freely at 09:52hrs."

There have been no arrests.
