A former police officer who acted inappropriately towards a female colleague has had misconduct proven against him
Former PC Liam Williams, who was based in south west London, appeared before a gross misconduct hearing which concluded on Tuesday, 16 April.
Had he still been a serving officer, he would have been dismissed.
He was found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of Discreditable Conduct, Equality and Diversity, and Authority, Respect and Courtesy.
Between June and October 2021, PC Williams made a number of inappropriate comments to female colleagues, including wrapping his arms around one of them and lifting her from her seat without consent.
It was also found that he had acted in an inappropriate manner towards the public, by shouting with the intention of shocking or frightening them.
Williams resigned from the Met on 18 March 2024.
Formed PC Williams will be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing.
Those appearing on the list cannot be employed by police, local policing bodies (PCCs), the Independent Office for Police Conduct or His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
Chief Superintendent Steve Lemon in charge of policing in south west BCU, covering Richmond, Wandsworth, Merton, and Kingston, said: "We demand the highest standards from officers within the Met and we have been clear about this. We must maintain these standards in order to increase the trust that our communities have in us.
"Former PC Williams's behaviour has fallen far below the standards and had he still been a serving officer, he would have been dismissed."
