A man has been saved from the River Thames, police said.

Richmond Police said shortly before 8pm today: "Ranelagh Drive/ Richmond Lock - a male has been recovered from the water.

"He is now safe and well and being taken to hospital.

"London Ambulance Service and fire brigade also in attendance."

The incident is a reminder of the dangers of the water. Last week, a man died in the Thames off Lower Ham Road.
