Global singing superstar Ed Sheeran thrilled staff when he turned up at the Petersham Hotel.

The reception team from the hotel bumped into the singer in the hotel's car park and, luckily for them, he agreed to a selfie.

Sandy Obogeanu and Lamin Fofana, who work at the Richmond hotel, described Ed as a 'lovely chap'.

The singer has reasons to smile, not least because of the recent victory in a copyright legal case where a judge ruled against claims he ripped off elements of his hit song 'Shape of You'.

Earlier this week, Ed was seen drinking in a London pub with Frank Lampard, the Everton boss who has links to Richmond.

The elegant 4 star Petersham Hotel, which dates back to 1865 sits on Richmond Hill with a panoramic view of the Thames, is the perfect place to celebrate.

The restaurant's April menu offers three courses for under £40, while fillet of Scottish beef or Dover Sole are available for a £15 supplement.

This Easter weekend there is a Easter Chocolaty Afternoon Tea (£39.50) or an Easter Weekend Lunch (£55).
