The London Breeze Film Festival, which began life as the Barnes Film Festival founded by local teacher and filmmaker Sam Cullis, has unveiled the full programme for its landmark tenth edition this October.

Formerly known for its close ties with Arts Richmond, the festival has doubled in size from last year.

It will present 150 independent shorts and features, with 84 screening in venues across London and another 66 available to stream via its bespoke platform, Breeze Online.

Running across five days, the festival will showcase work inspired by the themes of resistance, resilience, remember, reimagine and community – reflecting the concerns of filmmakers and audiences alike.

Highlights include

22 October, Riverside Studios (Preview Screening)

Shoot the People (Nigeria/UK, 2025), a feature documentary by acclaimed director Andy Mundy-Castle, follows photographer and filmmaker Misan Hariman as he captures protest movements around the globe.

Both the director and Hariman will take part in a Q&A afterwards.

23 October, The Garden Cinema

The Summer Book (UK/Finland, 2024), starring Glenn Close and newcomer Emily Matthews, adapts Tove Jansson's much-loved novella. Director Charlie McDowell will attend for a Q&A.

25 October, Riverside Studios

Phase (UK, 2025), the debut feature from Jessica Vogt, offers a haunting sci-fi drama about grief, loss and survival.

Props and set pieces from the film will be displayed in the foyer, alongside a Q&A with Vogt and her team.

26 October, Irish Cultural Centre, Hammersmith

The UK premiere of The Song Cycle (Ireland, 2024) from award-winning director Nick Kelly, documenting his musical cycle from Dublin to Glastonbury. Kelly and musician Séan Millar (aka Doctor Millar) will cycle to the London screening and perform songs from their new album.

Alongside its feature films, London Breeze will host nine shorts programmes, four days of industry events, and a free showcase of VR, AR and XR films by Royal College of Art students.

Festival Coordinator and Lead Programmer Madeleine Casey said: "Our volunteer team has worked incredibly hard over the past ten years to create a festival that champions emerging filmmakers, diverse voices and creative storytelling. The empathy, heart and humanity of these films fills us with hope for the future."

Executive Director Sam Cullis added: "This tenth edition marks a real milestone. The strength of this year's film and industry programme sets us firmly on course to becoming BAFTA-qualifying in the near future. We welcome audiences to celebrate our anniversary festival with us in October."
