Teams from the Prosperity Café fundraising effort for the people of Ukraine will be collecting donations at the England rugby game on Sunday.

The remarkable volunteers - based at the Ukrainian café in Twickenham - have provided a hub to collect vitally needed aid, from medical supplies to warm clothes, for those forced from their homes.

When war broke out on February 24, Galyna Kosyn'ka and Oleksandr (Alex) Yarema, who run the Prosperity Cafe and Restaurant, took the decision to close Prosperity's doors as a cafe and restaurant and instead put the space to use helping those in need.

Prosperity has now become one of the central donation hubs for humanitarian aid for Ukraine in the South-East of England.

To date, the team has sent a remarkable 84 trucks weighed down with vital aid into what has become a war zone, demonstrating the generosity of people across Richmond borough and beyond.

Items worth many hundreds of thousands of pounds have been trucked across the Continent to Ukraine this year. It is an enormous and expensive logistical exercise.

The team said: "We have sent our 84th truck to Ukraine loaded with donations.

"Each truck costs £2,500. We will collecting money at the rugby match in Twickenham on Sunday to pay for another truck. Please be generous."

Details of the items needed and how to make cash donations can be found here - https://www.londondonationsforukraine.org/
