The Get on Board 2023 event takes place on Thursday and combines, fun, exercise and cleaning up the Thames.

Participants will paddle board from Kew Bridge down to River Lane, in Richmond, in what is always a spectacular flotilla.

As the group travels up the river, they will be collecting plastic waste and other litter.

The event is being organised by Be Richmond, who are the group representing town centre businesses in their task to make the area a more attractive place to visit.

A spokesman said: "This is a great way to contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment while enjoying the beauty of Richmond's waterways.

"At 'Get on Board 2023', you will not only have the chance to contribute to a cleaner environment but also be part of a great community event involving residents, businesses, workers and charities.

"Together, we can make a difference in the fight against plastic pollution in our waterways."

The event starts at noon at Kew Bridge. Tickets are £25 - is open to everyone, and the ticket includes entrance to the event, training, and a post-event reception.

Active360, the leading company on the water, will provide mandatory training sessions for all participants. These sessions are designed to give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively control your board, navigate the river safely, and work with experienced coaches and safety boats on the day of the event.
