London Fire Brigade (LFB) tackled a blaze at a shop and day centre on Upper Richmond Road West, Richmond on 9 March 2025.

The Brigade say the fire is believed to be accidental and caused by an electrical fault within an industrial freezer.

Part of the ground floor of the three storey building was damaged by the fire but there were no reports of any injuries the LFB confirm.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "If your white goods start making a strange noise, don't ignore it. If you think there's a problem always unplug it and contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair technician.

"Most fires where white goods are the source of ignition are not down to anything you have done – so always make sure you register your appliances as you'll be informed if any issues are identified with the product you've bought."

Control Officers took the first of seven calls at 11:38pm Sunday 9 March and mobilised crews from Richmond, Wandsworth and Kingston fire stations to the scene. The incident was over for firefighters at 1:47am.
