A Richmond post office and shop becomes the next business broke into in the area after similar reports last month.

Skinners Newsagent and Post Office was "violently" broken into in the morning of Wednesday, 15 January.

At around 5:30am, the sound of the shop's glass door could be heard being smashed followed by fighting on the street, residents say.

One eyewitness tells Nub News: "Two men broke into the shop and stole alcohol, vapes, etc, but one was apprehended by a passerby.

"Two other people passing on bicycles stopped to help and the police promptly arrived in an unmarked car.

According to the resident one man was arrested by police which follows the arrest of another man by East Sheen officers yesterday (20 January) for drug use, local business thefts, and breaching his CBO.

However, any connection between the cases has not yet been confirmed.

Neighbours helped clear the glass and the post office services were expected to resume later in the afternoon.

"Although it was a horrific incident, and only yards away from where a drug dealer was stabbed a few years ago, it was heartening to hear how many local citizens helped stop the robbers and clean up afterwards," added the resident.

A Met Police spokesperson previously told Nub News following other burglaries in nearby East Sheen last month: "There has been seven reported burglaries across the ward of East Sheen between 27.12.2024 and 01.01.2025, three of these were reports for attempted burglaries.

"No arrests have been made at this time and enquiries are ongoing.

"Our local officers have been patrolling the area offering reassurance and crime prevention advice to local businesses."

The Met Police has been approached for additional comment.
