This Saturday, September 23rd, three walks are taking place in aid of the Richmond Heavies Foundation, a fundraising arm linked to Richmond Rugby Club. Part of the Foundation's 'Series of Extraordinary Events', the walks take place along the historic River Thames with participants crossing iconic London bridges along the way.

The Series Of Extraordinary Events includes fundraising endeavours all around the world and kicked off on September 3rd with former players Rupert Allhusen and Ben Leigh attempting to swim around Manhattan Island in New York, the infamous 20.5 mile 20 Bridges Swim. It continues overseas with bridge-themed challenges in both Sydney and Dubai.

Closer to home, there are three Thames bridges walks open to all within the Rugby Community, but also offering a chance for the wider community to join the club for the day. Enjoy a sociable picturesque walk and be rewarded with entry to National 1 fixture, Richmond vs Bishop's Stortford, food and a drinks reception on completion.

The three walks:

  1. Overnight London Bridges Walk starting at Tower Bridge (43km), 22-23rd September
  2. South West London Bridges Walk starting at Putney Bridge (15km), 23rd September
  3. Richmond Bridges Walk starting at Kew Bridge (5km), 23rd September

All monies raised will go towards the Richmond Heavies Foundation to continue supporting bursaries enabling children access to the benefits of rugby at Richmond, continuing our mission to ensure all community clubs in England have access to a working defibrillator, providing cardiac screening and mental wellbeing support for all players, coaches, employees and volunteers at Richmond Rugby and providing family support to bereaved families.

Visit the Richmond Rugby website to find out more, to take part or to donate towards the Richmond Heavies Foundation. Those unable to attend can follow via social media @RichHeaviesFdn
