Residents in Richmond Hill are continuing to face disruption after a burst water main caused flooding and damage to the area.

Thames Water teams have been working on site since yesterday evening (Sunday, 3 May) to repair the damaged pipe, with the latest update at 3.08pm on Monday confirming that further excavation is now required.

Engineers said the repair is proving complex, with deep excavation work underway and additional trench support being installed to allow the work to be carried out safely.

While the flow of water from the pipe has now been stopped, some households may still experience low or fluctuating water pressure until repairs are fully completed.

Water tankers remain in the area to help maintain supply, and bottled water is being delivered to vulnerable residents registered on priority support services.

The incident has caused significant damage to the road, which is expected to remain closed for several days while repairs and clean-up work continue.

Residents affected by flooding are being urged to contact their water provider directly for support.

Earlier updates confirmed emergency services, including the fire brigade and police, attended the scene overnight as crews worked to shut off the main and prevent further flooding.

The issue was first reported at around 9.15pm on Sunday, when residents were warned of potential loss of water supply in the Richmond Hill area.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys while disruption remains in place.

The Met Police and London Fire Brigade have been approached for comment.
