An American coffee chain is looking to move into the site of a former French coffee house in Richmond.

Blank Street UK Ltd has submitted plans for new shopfront signage at the former ORÉE Boulangeries on George Street.

On behalf of Blank Street Coffee, Bradley Architecture said: "The application relates to the proposed installation of new external shopfront signage to support the fit-out of the ground floor of the building as a Blank Street Coffee shop.

"The proposal to install new external shopfront signage neither adversely impacts any part of the existing building, contributing positively to its significance as a heritage asset, nor does it result in substantial harm to the heritage asset's significance; any potential harm is minimal."

Founded by Issam Freiha and Vinay Menda, Blank Street Coffee has expanded rapidly, with around 40 locations in the UK and nearly 90 worldwide.

In May this year, WatchHouse announced it had acquired five ORÉE Boulangerie sites after the French bakery chain entered administration in April.

A decision on the application is yet to be decided. To read the plans in full click here
