Bill's Richmond plans rejected by Council

A restaurant in Richmond has had its application for new signs refused by Richmond Council.
Bill's Richmond submitted plans for a revamped shopfront, but was denied by the Council due to being "visually intrusive".
In its decision, the planning officer said: "The proposed signage, by reason of its scale, design and materials, would appear over dominant, cluttered and visually intrusive in the street scene harming visual amenity, including the character and appearance of the host property as a Listed Building and the character and appearance of the Central Richmond, Richmond Riverside and Richmond Hill Conservation Area."
The proposals from the Hill Rise restaurant sought permission to replace the green fabric of the shopfront with cream and terracotta fabric.
Bill's also wanted to repaint doors, skirting, window frames and planter boxes in shades of green.
In addition, the restaurant planned to bring new internally illuminated signage and projecting logos.
Bill's is a British restaurant chain, founded by Bill Collison in 2001 in Lewes, East Sussex.
