As the weather improves and the Easter holidays arrive, find out the best activities in Richmond this Easter aimed at families and children

1. Desert Island Drama at Orange Tree Theatre

Join Alex Rider author Anthony Horowitz and guests on Richmond Green on 11 May, in a show rated suitable for all ages.

The show promises a brilliant afternoon of discussion and live music as the panel reveals what books, films TV shows and plays they cannot live without.

2. The Alligator's Mouth, Do NOT Eat the Egg

Join The Alligator's Mouth bookshop for an egg-tastic event in the lead up to Easter!

The children's bookshop is delighted to be welcoming author Fiona Barker and illustrator Sian Roberts back to the shop for an event based on their latest picture book 'Do NOT Eat the Egg'.

There will be a reading of the story, an interactive drawalong and a chocolate-themed quiz.

3. Kew Gardens Supertato

Join Supertato and his heroic veggie friends until 21 April, taking on hands-on activities and fun challenges at Kew Gardens.

Included in garden entry, this event is based on the bestselling books by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet.

The event promises unforgettable family memories in a vibrant celebration packed with music, movement and stillness.

4. Hampton Court Palace Tulip Festival

Explore over 100,000 tulip bulbs with your family over 60 acres of Henry VIII's royal gardens at the popular tulip festival.

Running between 11 April and 5 May, updates on flowering will be on social media, so you can find the best time to visit.

Tulip talks will be running in the Wine Cellar at 11.30 and 14.30 each day.

5. Easter Egg hunt, Ham House

Explore the beautiful Ham House gardens with this Easter trail until 21 April, with activities for the whole family.

Participants are given an Easter trail sheet, bunny ears and a chocolate egg, with dairy free, gluten free and allergen options also available.

Families will discover ten game stations and be tasked with saving Ham House in this English Civil Wars inspired trail.

6. Junior Bat Walks, Barnes

Join the WWT London Wetland Centre after dark to see bats fly in this nocturnal adventure between 10 and 17 April.

Suitable for children 7 and over, they will use special bat detectors to hear hunting calls and finish with a campfire to toast marshmallows.

The event will last between 19:30 and 21:30 and adults go free.

7. Lets Get Creative Chalk Drawing, Twickenham

Attend this free creative session between 12 and 13 April at Orleans House Gallery as part of their 'Cultural Reforesting' programme.

Children will join artist Gina DeCagna and draw with colourful chalk, creating a forest map in the Stables Gallery.

The event is aimed at children age 4-11, but all are welcome.

8. Reading Fairy Easter Party

Join Reading Fairy at ENTA Centre, Twickenham for an Easter party suitable for children ages 1-6 on Sunday 14 April.

The day promises fun activities, interactive story-telling, Easter crafts and more.

9. Richmond Teddy Bear Hunt

Join BeRichmond for its Teddy Bear Hunt! From 5 - 21 April, teddy bears will be hidden in shops across the town, and it's your mission to find them.

Download the trail map via BeRichmond's website or find a physical map at the Visit Richmond kiosk at Richmond train station to start your adventure! 

Each bear will have a letter attached, and once you've found them all, you can unscramble the letters to reveal a secret word.

When you've got the word, scan the QR code on your trail map, enter it on BeRichmond's website, and you'll be in the running to win a fabulous afternoon tea for a family of 4 at 144 On The Hill, the restaurant at Richmond Hill Hotel worth over £100!

10. Richmond Easter Rugby Camp

Richmond Rugby Community team are running Easter camps from 14 April to 17 April, open to all genders, with camps for under 5s to under 16s.

Participants can expect games, personal feedback, skill building exercises and drills in fun-packed days from 9am to 3pm.
