London-based housing provider RHP Group has launched an 'ambitious' retrofit project to enhance the energy efficiency of 191 homes in Barnes.

The initiative will incorporate key sustainability measures, to improve living conditions for residents while reducing carbon emissions.

Using a fabric first approach, the homes will be retrofitted with external wall insulation, solar panels, double glazed windows, composite doors, draught proofing, loft insulation, and improved ventilation.

The project is backed by £2.62 million from Wave 2.2 of the Government's Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), with RHP investing £19 million in this project (averaging out at around £99,000 per home).

The SHDF plays a crucial role in the UK's commitment to reaching net zero by 2050, helping to cut carbon emissions, tackle fuel poverty, and create green jobs.

RHP has partnered with construction company Mulalley to deliver the project, with the first 15 homes set for completion by the end of March 2025 and the entire scheme targeted for March 2026.

Sarah Thomas, Chief Executive of RHP Group, said: "As a socially responsible housing provider, we are committed to making our homes more sustainable.

"This project is part of a wider programme aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing fuel costs for residents, and protecting the planet. We're excited to see the impact it will have on our customers and their homes."

As well as investing in their existing homes, RHP is also focused on building new, sustainable, and accessible housing in the local area, having delivered 125 new homes last year.
