Arts Richmond is calling upon writers and aspiring writers to participate in the 2025 competition for original radio playwriting.

Entries are now being accepted for short plays, with the deadline for submission set for 30 May 2025.

Entry Conditions:

1. The play must be an original piece, previously unpublished and unperformed.
2. Writers must be residents or students within the Richmond Borough.
3. The play's performance duration must not exceed 15 minutes.
4. Scripts should require no more than four actors.

A panel of experienced judges will select a shortlist of four finalists. These finalists will be required to record their plays.

Submission Requirements:

• Finalists must provide a recorded performance of their play, which will be featured on the Arts Richmond YouTube Channel as part of the competition.
• Each submission must include a separate top sheet detailing the writer's name, play title, and contact information. For anonymity, please ensure names do not appear on the script itself.

Important Dates:

• Submission Deadline: Scripts must reach Arts Richmond by 30 May 2025.
• Shortlist Announcement: The four finalists will be notified by 18 July 2025 and asked to record their plays.
• Recording Submission Deadline: Finalists are to submit recordings by 29 August 2025.

Each finalist will receive a certificate recognising their radio production.

The judges will select an overall winner, who will be awarded the Colin Skipp Arts Richmond Radio Play Trophy and a prize of £100, presented at the Arts Richmond Drama Party on 20 September 2025.

Additionally, finalists will receive feedback from professionals at BBC Writersroom.
