Bakery in Richmond releases 'biggest ever' new menu for summer time

Authentic Danish bakers Ole & Steen has launched its 'biggest menu refresh ever' in celebration of the summer.

The bakers known for their Cinnamon Social, freshly made rye breads and sandwiches have revealed a summer menu with new flavours, textures and colours. 

Ole & Steen say the new menu focuses on quality and premium produce featuring new toasties, open rye sandwiches, premium drinks and breakfasts that can be enjoyed inside or al fresco as we embrace the glorious new season.

inspired by the Danish ethos Hygge, a word that means coziness and comfortable, The menu was created with that idea in mind the bakery chain says.

New menu items include: Sundried Tomato & Pesto Danish, a pastry filled with sundried tomatoes and mozzarella topped with basil pesto; Vegan No'duja toastie - focaccia filled with plant-based no'duja, plant-based 'cheese' and spinach; Mozzarella, Pesto and Tomato toastie, a focaccia filled with mozzarella, basil pesto, tomato and spinach. 

There's also a selection of open sandwiches: Pastrami Open Rye - carrot rye topped with mustard mayonnaise, pastrami, sauerkraut, crispy onions and gherkins; A Vegan Edamame Pesto Hummus Open Rye - carrot rye topped with edamame pesto hummus, roasted tomatoes and pea shoots; Smoked Salmon Open Rye - carrot rye topped with smoked salmon, lemon cream cheese, pickled cucumber & fennel, dill and pink peppercorns; As well as a Tarragon Chicken Open rye - carrot rye topped with a chicken tarragon salad, radish, crispy onions and pea shoots.

Ole & Steen's new menu is inspired by Danish ethos 'Hygge' - meaning relax and enjoy the good things in life (credit: Ole & Steen).

The new breakfast croissants are filled with 'fresh, tasty ingredients' says . Prosciutto, Mozzarella & Fig Jam Croissant - croissant filled with prosciutto, mozzarella, fig jam and rocket. Kimchi & Cheddar Croissant - croissant filled with kimchi, Cheddar and spinach.

New drinks include Fresh Lemonade - lemonade with lime, ginger and fresh mint as well as premium Fentimans Victorian Lemonade, Rasberry Lemonade and Sparkling Elderflower. 

An Ole & Steen spokesperson said: "We are really excited about our latest menu launch. Our bakers in both Denmark and the UK have been working hard on our amazing new dishes and we cannot wait for our guests to try everything.

"This is our biggest menu change yet which comes with plenty of seasonal ingredients as ensuring our products are both sustainable and full of flavour is really important to us."

Ole & Steen comes from two Danish bakers, Ole & Steen, joining forces and bakeries in 1991.
