Volunteer police stopped an uninsured driver en route to getting a coronavirus test in Richmond.

Officers from the Met Police's Specials unit seized the Audi they were driving.

The police posted a photo of the car earlier this afternoon (Saturday, January 2).

"First seizure of the year for the West Roads Policing Team in @MPSRichmond," the force said.

"Insurance is still a requirement even if you are just popping out for a covid test, as this driver has found out. #seized."

Specials are a volunteer police unit with the same powers of arrest as regular constables.
