A316 in Richmond completely shut after serious collision

UPDATE: Death by careless driving investigation as A316 inquest opens

The A316 in Richmond is closed in both directions after a collision.

Police are enforcing a roadblock and diverting traffic. A cyclist was being treated by paramedics.

More than a dozen ambulance and police crews have attended the scene and an air ambulance helicopter landed around 4.45pm.

The collision happened near Richmond Athletic Ground and Pools on the Park leisure centre.

The AA traffic alert service says: "Road closed and queueing traffic due to accident on A316 Twickenham Road both ways from A307 Kew Road (Richmond Circus) to A3004 St Margarets Road (St Margarets Roundabout).

"Congestion to surrounding roads around Twickenham Bridge, affecting traffic through Richmond."

Richmond Police said: "Avoid A316 - road closed Richmond Circus to Twickenham Bridge. Road traffic incident."
