70 volunteers gathered in Richmond on Sunday to do a litter pick around the town centre.

The young volunteers, from the volunteer group Save the Earth from A to Z (ASEZ) from the World Mission Society Church of God and other volunteers from the community started at The Green and then went along Twickenham Road and into the town centre. The pick took place from 11am to 1pm.

The litter pick was a part of the group's 'Environmental Protection' activities to take the lead in protecting the environment and raising awareness of the problems of litter.

The group intended to deliver the message that: "continuous care and concern change our living environment and impact the overall wellbeing of the community."

68 bags of litter, including two office chairs and other bulky items were collected.

The volunteers were joined by the Deputy Mayor of Richmond upon Thames and Councillor Fiona Sacks.

The event was sponsored by Tesco in Richmond, who provided crisps to thank the volunteers for their hard work.
