A dozen and a half drivers were given tickets for illegal parking in Richmond Park.

The clampdown came after a visitor complained that a car park had been created "next to the existing car park" by Kingston Gate.

Cheska posted an image of the grassy verge where drivers had left their cars and Royal Parks Police responded by issuing a number of fines.

"We have ticketed at least 18 vehicles at Kingston Gate," the force said, sharing the image you can see at the top of this story.

"The ones on the grass have left their mark."

It happened on an extremely busy day in the park. Officers dealt with dozens of other incidents, including people encroaching on the wild deer, dogs off leads, a collision, reckless cycling and an unexploded Second World War device.
