Our MP has waded into the debate about cycling in Richmond Park.

Sarah Olney, MP for Richmond Park, wants to see more people getting on their bikes, but is concerned that certain behaviour discourages others.

"I do find it frustrating that people are put off cycling by this sort of behaviour and there's no doubt that it's a hazard," she told Radio Jackie.

"I would just implore cyclists, especially if they're in the park - which is a national nature reserve, it's not a sports venue - to be thoughtful.

"They need to observe the Highway Code, speed limits and they need to think about the impact of their behaviour on others."

Richmond Park is a hugely popular spot for cycling, with stunning surroundings and a 7-mile loop to follow.

Within it there are some steep downhills, including at Sawyer's Hill just after the entrance at Richmond Gate and Broomfield Hill, where cyclists sometimes continue the speed they picked up on the descent into the junction with Priory Lane at Robin Hood Gate.
