The long awaited reopening of the Vineyard Community Centre's shop this week was a bittersweet event.

The centre at the foot of Richmond Hill was forced to close both its charity shop and café when we locked down in March - outlets which bring in £60,000 a year in revenue.

After giving the shop a makeover, stocking up on hand sanitiser for customers and installing a one-way system, it finally reopened on Monday, November 2.

Only two days before this, Prime Minister Boris Johnson had announced another national lockdown.

Vineyard wrote on social media: "Yay! We opened our charity shop today. BUT sadly we have to Covid close again from Wednesday.

"We look forward to trying again in December but in the meantime we have so much stock from previous non-trading months and now that volunteers will not be able to sort for us we are having to ask for a temporary halt to donations. #Frustrating! #vineyardcc."
