New athletics class for children launches in Richmond

By The Editor 7th May 2021

A new athletics class for children is starting in Richmond.

Mini Athletics runs sports classes that introduce children to the basics of athletic movement.

The classes aim to improve physical, cognitive, social and emotional development across three levels - 'Didee Athletes' for 2-3.5 year olds, 'Little Athletes' for 3.5-5 year olds, and 'Mini Athletes' for 5-7 year olds.

Richmond classes will be run by Alex Marsch and held at Grey Court School and Old Deer Park Sport Ground.

Follow them on Facebook here.

Classes cost £9.50 and free tasters are available.

Marsch is also launching new classes in Twickenham, Hampton, Teddington, and Ham.

Mini Athletics was created by parents Kirk Bowyer, a strength and conditioning coach for elite athletes and Clare Bowyer, a primary school teacher and PE specialist.

When Kirk and Clare had their first child, they were keen to take him to a class that would meet both of their goals.

Kirk was keen to enhance athleticism/sporting participation and Clare wanted him to build his confidence, social and cognitive skills.

They founded Mini Athletics and now have franchinses across the UK.

Classes:

Old Deer Park - Fridays from 9:30am

Grey Court School - Saturdays from 9am
