Five Richmond charities are being sought to star on the borough's new official Monopoly game.

The charities will be immortalised on the board, on the game's Community Chest spaces and cards.

"It's our way of thanking the public for getting behind the game so very enthusiastically," said George Shrimpton of Winning Moves UK who are producing the game under licensing from Hasbro.

Members of the public have been invited to vote for the landmarks and groups they want to be included.

To qualify and be in the running to be selected as one of the five, charities have to be registered and Richmond-focussed.

George said: "We would like to formally thank each and every person who has sent in nominations and as our way of a big thank you, five Richmond-upon-Thames charities will also get to star in the game.

"We feel that charities getting to feature on all the Community Chest spaces and two of the Community Chest cards is a great fit, bearing in mind the 'community' aspect of these unique Monoploy features."

In total, more than 30 borough landmarks and favourites will be showcased in the game.

Winning Moves UK has produced official versions of Monopoly from Dubai to Dublin and Sydney to Southampton. Now the dice is rolling upon Richmond.

The new game will hit shops in October 2021, in time for Christmas.

You can vote for charities and landmarks to feature in the game in three ways.

  1. by email [email protected]
  2. on Facebook via the official The Monopoly: Richmond-upon-Thames Edition game Facebook page
  3. by post to The Monopoly: Richmond-upon-Thames Edition game, Winning Moves, 7 Praed Street, London W2 1NJ

Polling closes at 23.59pm on Wednesday, March 24.
