We asked and you answered!

This is the question we put to our readers recently, and you certainly had your say.

We received numerous comments, with Richmond residents past and present giving their thoughts on the town.

The answer... a resounding YES!

Chloe Alington said: "The beautiful riverside and community around it / on it, it's the next best answer to living by the coast.

"The view from Richmond Hill, and the expanse of Richmond Park, which reminds me of a mini- New Forest!"

Nicolette Redknap: "The River Thames, Richmond Hill, the cobbled paths leading down to the Green, Richmond Theatre.

"The array of shops and places to eat, the 65 bus to see Brentford FC. I â¤ï¸ Richmond. If I won the lottery I'd move back in a blink!"

Local business Soapy Soap and Gift Shop said: " I moved to Richmond 12 years ago from Kent.

"The first thing I loved was the ride into the City for work. On the way home a lap of the park in the summertime was glorious. Then watching rugby at the athletic ground and Old Deer Park followed by beers in the amazing pubs!"

Matteo Gioachin said: "Richmond is at the same time countryside and urban environment.

"Countryside with grazing cows and a massive amount of green areas. Urban environment because you are in a city with an underground station, train and buses, services, 10 miles away from Piccadilly Circus.

"In some parts of Richmond (e.g. the Vineyard Passage, but there are plenty of other spots) everything was preserved so it remained as it was a couple of centuries ago."

David Beaumont: "The fact that it's the home of one of the most remarkable factories in the country with a fascinating history. The Poppy Factory."

Susanne Munslow: "Its atmosphere is friendly and all the shopkeepers are helpful and generally kind to you. People are usually very polite and well mannered I find.

"I have just come back to Richmond after living in north London for 8 years and believe me, it isn't like that over there.

"I'm glad to have returned and am making a new life again with the help of local people and charitable organisations."

Rawya Fares: "I love to see people rowing in the Thames, it looks so peaceful and relaxing. Hopefully one day soon I can do the same."
