Update: Kew Gardens has extended the event by a week!

A Christmas trail taking visitors on a new route through Kew Gardens at night launches this week.

The Christmas at Kew light trail begins on Friday, December 4.

This year's event is a 2.6km path through an illuminated Rose Garden that takes about 75 minutes to complete.

The trail takes place after the gardens has closed for the day. It runs 4-10pm between these dates:

  • Friday, December 4 – Sunday, December 6
  • Wednesday, December 9 – Thursday, December 24
  • Saturday, December 26 – Sunday, January 10
  • Wednesday, January 13 – Sunday, January 17

"Old favourites and brand new light installations will sparkle and glow around you, bringing festive cheer to you, your family and friends," Kew said.

"Discover a glittering tunnel of bells, giant illuminated seed heads and majestic trees wrapped in light on your way to the dazzling treetop waterfall, where beams of light interplay in a breath-taking aerial dance.

"The iconic Temperate House will be a beautiful spectrum of Christmas colour, with dynamic laser projections enveloping the glasshouse.

"Stroll through the sparkling Tunnel of Light twinkling with thousands of fairy lights, and be greeted by fiery sculptures aglow with flickering flames in the scented Fire Garden.

"The much-anticipated Palm House Pond finale returns with a stunning light show playing to a memorable soundtrack of festive classics."

Tickets cost between £19.50 and £24.50 for adults and are fast selling out! You can book on the Kew Gardens website here.
