Hampton and Richmond assistant manager Freddie Hyatt was left wondering what the team need to do get a result after their 3-2 loss against Dulwich Hamlet.
Hampton fell behind quickly after Nana Owusu scored a penalty and Danny Mills netted within 15 minutes before fighting back through Alfy Whittingham and Luis Fernandez, but lost at the death when Owusu scored another penalty.
Hyatt was left feeling that things just weren't bouncing the Beavers' way at the moment following their third consecutive defeat.
Speaking to club media, he said: "[conceding early goals] of course it sets you back coming here.
"To concede the penalty, straight away when you look at the game it puts you on the back foot.
"As a team we did ever so well to get back into the game, they get a player sent off and we are in the ascendancy and then in the last minutes of the game, they get a penalty.
"It is like, what have you got to do to win a game? I feel for the boys because they have worked ever so hard to get something out of the game and then it gets snatched away from you in the dying seconds of the game and it is hard to take.
"We do feel like we are ruing missed opportunities, the one where it has bounced in the box you have to put yourself on the line for that, you have to put your whole body through it and if you get injured then you get injured. Again, there was just not enough there.
"We had a discussion on Thursday night about what was needed, they knew exactly what was needed and unfortunately we have just come up a little bit short."
