Richmond Rugby, one of the oldest and most successful women's rugby clubs in the world, is delighted to announce the launch of its girls youth playing section.

The youth section will officially commence training on Sunday 21st November from 12pm at the Athletic Ground, with Under 13, Under 15 and Under 18 teams available.

The section will be coached every Sunday by Richmond Women first-team players and club community coaches.

To celebrate this exciting news the club is delighted to invite all interested players and their families to their Richmond Pitch Up & Play afternoon on Sunday 14th November.

Kicking-off at 1pm the session is free and open to all, providing players with the opportunity to experience youth rugby at Richmond, undertake a variety of fun rugby drills and exercises and learn from some of the best in the business.

Following the session, all players and their families are invited to attend the Richmond Women's 1st XV fixture against Bath Ladies. Kick-off is at 3pm on the main pitch and entry is free. There will be plenty of food and refreshments available.

Laura Kapo, Richmond Women's Chair and First XV prop (302 league appearances) said: "This is extremely positive news for our club and the entire community.

"Throughout our long and proud history we have enjoyed delivering extremely successful women's rugby programmes, offering first-class senior rugby and most recently mini rugby from Under 6s to Under 11s.

"Expanding our offering to the youth section is massively exciting and will now provide a direct and clear pathway from mini rugby, to youth rugby and to our highly successful senior women's section.

"We are looking forward to welcoming players and their families to our club on Sunday 14th November for a fun-filled afternoon of rugby activities followed by an exciting first-team match against Bath."

The Richmond Pitch Up & Play afternoon is free to all players (Under 12 to Under 18). To confirm your interest please contact Head of Community Dom Palacio: [email protected].

The Richmond Girls Youth Section will officially commence training on Sunday 21st November from 12pm at the Athletic Ground, TW9 2SF. Players of all abilities are invited to attend and try it out for free.
