Richmond Council estimates it has lost nearly £6 million in income from parking fees and fines due to the coronavirus pandemic.
At a meeting of the Transport and Air Quality Committee, officers said the impact of the pandemic was thought to have reduced parking income by £5.758 million against a budgeted total income of £16.2 million.

Richmond Park MP and Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Transport, Sarah Olney, last night addressed the crowds at the Barnes Residents rally at the recently closed Hammersmith Bridge. The rally was set up to give local residents an opportunity to share their experiences of life since the bridge was closed to pedestrians and cyclists three weeks ago.
Sarah Olney commented, 'It's now very clear that the only organisation with the funds to actually put forward to fix the bridge is the DfT. What we need right now from the Government is a commitment to provide the funds.'
