A plan to reinvent a recreation ground in Barnes has been backed by more than 60 people with pledges of nearly £6,000.

Friends of Barnes Common is in the third year of its project to upgrade the Vine Road Recreation Ground.

Thames Water has been condemned for delays in cleaning up a devastating sewage spill into the Duke of Northumberland's River and on to the Thames.

The fragile river environment was littered with plastic bags and other waste some three weeks after the incident, which was caused by a serious failure at the Mogden sewage works.

Man arrested after knifepoint robbery in Richmond supermarket

A man has been arrested following a linked series of commercial knifepoint robberies in Richmond and nearby South West London towns.

The 45-year-old was arrested this morning in the vicinity of Northfield Avenue, Ealing, after an operation by the Met's Flying Squad.

Disqualified van driver in court over breaking Richmond Park rules

A man has been banned from the roads for more than two years after driving while disqualified in Richmond Park - in breach of the park's rules.

Trade and business vehicles are banned from entering the park and drivers can be given a £50 fine if caught.

Firefighters from Richmond called to house fire

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a house fire on Roedean Crescent in Roehampton this afternoon.

Part of the second floor and the roof a detached house was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

On Friday, January 8 at about 10pm, two men dressed in black with baseball caps and masks attempted to force entry into a property on Ennerdale Road, Kew.
