An elderly woman suffered a head injury this afternoon – Tuesday – close to the roundabout near the Odeon cinema in Richmond.

Traffic at the roundabout is particularly busy at the moment given that vehicles crossing Richmond Bridge are being diverted right towards Richmond Hill rather than the town because of long-running roadworks on Hill Street.

An eye-witness said: "The woman was sat in the middle of the roundabout at the top of the bridge. I am not sure how she got there but her head was bleeding.

"It was a really messy situation. Lots of drivers were making it to the top of the road to find out about the diversion up the hill."
