A woman suffered a leg fracture in Richmond Park today after slipping on icy ground.

The Tamsin Trail - an off-road 7.35-mile path around the full edge of the park which is popular with walkers, cyclists and runners - has been partially closed as a result of the dangerous wintry conditions.

Paramedics attended to the woman after her injury and Royal Parks Police urged visitors to be cautious.

The force said: "Part of the Tamsin Trail near to Ham Gate in Richmond Park is closed due to ice/ flooding.

"Please be careful in this area, a pedestrian has fractured her leg this morning on the ice."

Earlier this week there was heavy flooding on the trail near the Kingston entrance and park employees worked to drain the water.

Thankfully, the weather is warming up next week so we should hopefully see fewer accidents or closures.

Richmond Police said: "Hopefully it's not so cold soon, but be careful when using our parks and green spaces while icy!"
