An investigation is underway for an offence of burglary at around midnight on Wednesday April 21, when two unknown males entered a residential property on Mortlake Road in Richmond.

The two occupants of the property were asleep and woke up to find two males already in their home, opening their bedroom door.

One of the occupants, a 77-year-old male, got out of bed and chased the males out of the property in the commotion.

He fell down the stairs and suffered lacerations to his head, and a fractured shoulder.

Police arrived at the property along with the London Ambulance Service at 12 past midnight.

The 77-year-old male was taken to hospital where his injuries were deemed neither life threatening nor life changing.

No arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing.

TDC Ellie Moore, the Officer leading this investigation, said: "Crimes such as this can have a lasting impact on the victims, and leave them feeling deeply concerned and traumatised.

"This particular event was a complete invasion of the victims' privacy and we are doing everything we can to identify those responsible.

"We urge anyone with information to contact us, in particular, anyone with CCTV around the area, or anyone who may have seen or heard anything could greatly assist our investigation."

Contact police on 101 with information and quote CRIS 0703620/21.
