Why did the chicken cross the river?

So why did the chicken cross the river?

To get to Hammersmith and Fulham it would appear! (swimming rather than using the bridge of course)

Richmond was revealed to have the worst chicken shop hygiene rating in London in a data study claiming to examine the classic late-night fast-food shops in every borough.

A map of the boroughs with their scores can be found here.

Casino.co.uk compiled its report using data from the Food Standards Agency to collect the food hygiene ratings of every independent chicken shop in London.

It calculated an average hygiene rating for every borough and then calculated a risk-o-meter score.

Richmond's risk-o-meter score was 80%, the highest of any London borough.

The study said: "The risk-o-meter percentage does not represent the chance of contracting food poisoning.

"The figure shown is a weighting based on a 5-star food hygiene rating and can be calculated as such; ([5-Average Food Rating Per Borough ]/5)*100."

Fiona Sinclair, Director at STS Food Safety said: "In England, it is optional for a restaurant or takeaway to display an FSA rating at its physical location.

"Instead, all ratings are available on the FSA's website.

"When ordering food from Deliveroo and Uber Eats, the apps provide no mention of the ratings.

"This means that it's down to the customer to do their research before tucking into a chicken burger or kebab.

"The beauty of this system is that food businesses which are not up to scratch have nowhere to hide.

"The information is public for all to see and bad practices can no longer be kept behind closed doors, especially in these days of social media.

"There is nowhere for a food business to hide if they are given a failing score."

In south west London, the best score was Merton (with an average hygiene rating of 3.2 and risk-o-meter score of 35%), followed by Wandsworth (3.1 and 38%) and Sutton (3.0 and 40%).

Havering in east London came top, with an average hygiene rating of 4.5 and a low risk-o-meter score of 10%.
