Until Saturday – The Da Vinci Code

Dan Brown's blockbuster thriller has now been brought to the stage.

The curator of the Louvre has been brutally murdered, and alongside his body are a series of baffling codes. Follow the pulse-racing journey as Professor Robert Langdon, played by Christopher Harper (Coronation Street), and fellow cryptologist Sophie Neveu (Hannah Rose Caton) attempt to solve the riddles, leading to the works of Leonardo Da Vinci and beyond.

With guidance from teacher and friend Professor Leigh Teabing, played by family favourite Danny John-Jules (Red Dwarf, Death in Paradise), Langdon and Neveu embark on a breathless race through the streets of Europe.

May 10-14 – Animal Farm

George Orwell's fable tells the story of a revolution and its aftermath. Re-imagined by an award-winning creative team, Animal Farm is a dynamic, daring and contemporary take on a timeless story.

Until May 28 – World Premiere of Pamela Carter's The Misfortune of the English

Inspired by true events: a story of (mis)adventure and blind optimism, nationhood, and courage in the face of disaster.

On the morning of 17 April 1936, a group of 27 schoolboys, led by their teacher and newly arrived in Nazi Germany, set out on the first of a seven-day walking tour of the Black Forest.

By 8pm that evening, local villagers were searching for them in a blizzard.

Saturday, May 7. Bob Mills heads the stand-up show this week alongside Byron Betram, Liam Pickford and Marcel Lucont.

Bob Mills has established himself as one of the most successful live acts in the country, as well as putting together a string of acclaimed TV and radio credits, including Fighting Talk and Radio 5Live..

Arguably, his finest work, to date, was Channel 4's 'The Show'. These eight one hour programmes featuring fly-on-the-wall film of the making of a real chat show, are widely regarded as the template for much of the reality TV that continues to dominate the schedules today.

Thursday, May 5 - Gary Fletcher Band

A founder and ever present member of The Blues Band with Paul Jones, Gary has appeared with and/or recorded with many greats, including Peter Green, Maggie Bell, Van Morrison, John Mayall, Long John Baldry and many more.

The music straddles blues, Americana and folk, playing guitar, slide banjo, mandolin and ukelele.

The six-piece line-up is Tom Leary (Feast of Fiddles, Lindisfarne, ELO) on violin and mandolin, Alan Glen on harmonica (Yardbirds, Nine Below Zero), Andy Billups (The Hamsters) on bass, Nick Ritchie on lead guitar (Mud) and Sam Kelly on drums (Tom Robinson, Dave Kelly Band).

Saturday, May 7 – The Kindred Spirit Band

The five-piece band has a unique take on the Prog Folk Rock genre, weaving thrilling electric guitar and flute / sax with "perceptive and intriguing" song-writing, driving rhythms, "haunting and bewitching" female vocals and beautiful harmonies.

They are also famous for featuring thrilling musical duels between their two lead players. Their songs include powerful, inspiring and beautiful, environmental and mystical themes and their sound has been likened to Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull and the Moody Blues.

They have been described by 'Prog Rock and Prog Metal Zine' as "One of the best folk and rock acts in activity in the UK"

Live at The Jazz Sanctuary – Turks Head, St Margarets

Thursday, May 5 - Martin Speake and the Tjoe Quartet.

Alto saxophonist, Martin Speake, who is also a composer, musician, bandleader, educator and record label founder, brings his project "In all Languages - The music of Ornette Coleman" to The Jazz Sanctuary.

Performing with Alyson Cawley (tenor saxophone), Calum Gourlay (double Bass,) and Jeff Williams (drums), they celebrate Ornette Coleman, who is now recognised as the founding father of free jazz.

Tjoe Quartet - London-based guitarist and composer from Hong Kong, bandleader of NTBM, Tjoe has worked extensively during the last 10 years with artists such as Kendrick Scott, appearing at Jazz Festivals around the world, whilst leading his own band, NTBM.

He has created his own sound of music with a blend of rock electric guitar, exotic composition from his root of canton pop, east Asia heritage with powerful soloing and unique improvisation.

Jam at The George, King Street, Twickenham

Sunday, May 8 - The Bounce

Each week a different artist or group hosts the regular jam with their own unique style.

This week they have The Bounce, playing a mix of soul jazz and funk from the Motown era right up to recent hits.

The six-piece band features a rhythm section, guitar, bass and drums topped off with sax and two female vocalists

All musicians and music fans are welcome, and if you would like to play just bring your instrument.
