A weather warning has been issued as temperatures are set to fall to freezing tonight.

The Met Office warns that icy patches are expected to form in Richmond overnight.

It says to expect:

  • some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

The warning kicks in at 9pm (Friday, December 4) and remains in place until 10am tomorrow.

Residents should therefore be wary if they're heading out the house on Saturday morning about possible slippiness on roads and pavements.

From 4pm temperatures will begin to fall from 5C to just 1C by 9pm. It could get as cold as -1C during the night.

While it will be icy, Saturday morning is set for a bright start, with sunshine around 8-10am.

There is an outside chance of rain, but it looks most likely that there will be light cloud throughout the day.

Sunday will see a misty start and a cooler day with temperatures reaching a high of 3C.
